This Medieval Russian Helmet is hand crafted from 14 gauge steel and decorative plates of brass. The steel has been textured to give a rough antiqued appearance.
The helmet has been fitted with butted round ring steel chainmail. The interior of the helmet is blackened and has been lined with an adjustable leather suspension liner and an adjustable chin strap with a brass buckle.
Russian helmets such as this were commonly worn by Persian elites as evidenced by the tall, conical top and the extensive chainmail protection. The design likely spread from modern day Iran and variants of the design could be seen as far afield from Eastern Europe to India.
A helmet such as this could be expected to be seen on a Russian noble Boyar or a professional warrior.
